On 22 March, Tohoku Rakuten and Yokohama DeNA played in Eastern League regular season Shinrindori Stadium Izumi in the first round match between Tohoku and Yokohama DeNA, losing 0-2 to Tohoku Rakuten.

Tohoku Rakuten started Kosei Shoji pitcher. In the first inning, with runners on first and second with hit one out and Hit by Pitch, he gave up the rest of the inning and pitched tenaciously from the second inning onwards, closer a runs through the middle of the fifth. The second-placed Yuki Hayashi pitcher also tied at 0, and the Kosei Koga pitcher also tied 2 inning runs pitch, and the game went to the end with both teams scoreless.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, pitcher had a good chance to respond to the strong pitching of the team, with Takero Okajima, Takumi Aono, and Daiki Irie hitting back-to-back singles to put one out and bases loaded, but the runners on base were hit by pitches and no runs were scored. Then, in the top of the eighth inning, Naoki Hihata pitcher hit a solo shot to Atsushi Katsumata to take the lead. He then gave up a two-out, bases loaded-loaded triple to Walk the score to make it 2-0.

In the top of the ninth, Haruto Nakagomi pitcher retired three batters and closer momentum to fightback, but they couldn't score in the bottom of the ninth. The match ended 0-2. Starter pitcher Shoji threw 78 pitches in 4.2 innings, allowing 3 hit 3 Hit by Pitch 5 strike out runs. In the batting lineup, Ao fielder’s choice and Irie each had 2 hit.
