Orix Buffaloes has once again started its spring training camp at Kiyotake General Athletic Park in Miyazaki City.
pitcher Ryuhei Sotani, who was selected to represent Japan in the WBC, was in bullpen from the first day and showed that his preparations were going smoothly. He used WBC balls for his pitch practice. He was getting used to the feel of the unfamiliar ball, and occasionally exchanged opinions with pitcher coach Kazuyuki Atsuzawa as he threw. Last season, pitcher recorded a career-high eight wins. We look forward to seeing him again this season as a part of the starting rotation, leading the team as they aim to win the league championship for the first time in three years.
pitcher Alen Kuri threw an astonishing 350 pitches from the first day. In his first year since transferring to the team last season, he recorded the most wins on the team with 11. He will continue to lead pitcher staff as a pillar of the starting rotation this season.
On ground, Shota Hiranuma who was drafted by Saitama Seibu Lions, participated in batting practice. He worked hard while carefully checking his own batting form. This season marks his 11th year as a professional, and will he be able to win the fierce competition for a regular spot and have a breakthrough season?
Bob Seymour, another new recruit, also worked up a sweat with batting practice from the first day of training camp. Last year, Seymour hit 30 Home Run, a batting average of .263, and an OPS of .880 in 105 minor league games. He showed off his powerful batting skills, hitting multiple balls over the fence.
