◇ Hokkaido Nippon-Ham vs. Orix, first game (4th, ES CON FIELD)

A final pitch ceremony was held for Masui Hirotoshi, who played in the NPB for a total of 13 years, including eight years with Hokkaido Nippon-Ham and five years with Orix.

After a video of his playing days was played in the stadium, Masui appeared on mound. Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters pitcher coach Hisashi Takeda, batting pitcher Keisuke Tanimoto, Nao Miyanishi pitcher, Orix coach, Adachi Ryoichi, Yoshihisa Hirano pitcher and his family presented him with a bouquet of flowers.

catcher for the final pitch was Shinya Tsuruoka, who was his battery mate during his time with Hokkaido Nippon-Ham. He threw the final pitch in front of a large crowd at ES CON FIELD.

Masui joined Hokkaido Nippon-Ham as the 5th pick in the 2009 draft. In his first year, he pitched in 13 games as a starter, but switched to relief in his second year. In 2012, he pitched in 73 games, the most in the league, and won the title of "Best reliever" with 50 hit points. In 2014 and 2015, he played as the team's guardian angel.

He then switched to being a starter midway through 2016. He contributed to Hokkaido Nippon-Ham league championships in 2012 and 2016, winning six games as a starter. In 2017, he played an active role as a closer again, before transferring to Orix as a free agent. In 2019, he became the first player in Pacific League history to achieve 150 hold and 150 saves.
