On 19 March, the opening match between Chiba Lotte and Tohoku Rakuten in Zozo Marine Stadium was won 5-0 by Chiba Lotte win.

Chiba Lotte got on board in the bottom of the first inning when Misho Nishikawa singled to load the bases with hit and Polanco scored on an RBI doble with two outs. In the bottom of the second inning, Yudai Fujioka Walk and Kyota Fujiwara doble to put runners on second and third with no outs, and Kyuto Ueda added a run on a sacrifice fly by . In the bottom of the fifth, Naonori Yasuda hit his first solo shot of the opener to make the score 3-0.

The starter, Yuji Nishino pitcher, got off to a good start, striking out two consecutive struck out in the first inning. In the top of the third inning, with runners on first and second with Walk one out and hit, he struck out the next two batters to end the inning with double play runs out of the jam. On the other hand, Tohoku Rakuten took the loss, and starter Takayuki Kishi pitcher threw 6 innings on 95 pitches, allowing 6 hit 3 Walk 3 strike out 3 runs. The second-based, Ryuta Konno pitcher, closer a perfect 1-inning but couldn't connect with a sporadic 5-hit.
