The cheerleaders of the six Taiwan professional baseball teams are attracting enthusiastic attention from Japan fans for their gorgeous cheering performances, and are attracting more and more attention every year. Pacific League Insight conducted a Q&A session with the 2025 season members of the "Rakuten Girls (baseball Rakuten Girls)", the exclusive cheerleader of "Rakuten Monkeys", who pioneered Taiwanese professional cheerleading and laid the foundation for Taiwan's unique cheering style. Here are a variety of answers that give you a glimpse of the members' true faces.

Okabe's profile

This time we will be introducing Choai (@hobby0205), number 99. She was born on February 5th, is 155cm tall, and her hobbies are traveling, photography, singing, playing the piano, watching movies, and music.

This season marks Okabe's second year as a cheerleader. When asked why she continues to participate, she said, "Cheerleading is a job that allows you to passionately convey the feelings of the fans and liven up the atmosphere in the stadium. Being able to bring joy to everyone and cheer together with the fans is very passionate and makes me happy, and I am filled with gratitude to be able to work as a Rakuten Girl. I love the fact that I continue to grow in this industry, which is why I continue to participate."

◯How would you describe your personality in one word?
Optimistic, cheerful, and tenacious

◯What are you good at?
Singing, writing, fashion coordination

I like animals, Harry Potter, eating ice cream, and listening to music!

What do you do when you want to relax?
Watching movies, eating delicious food, getting a massage, singing, watching TV series, taking my pet out, looking at my phone, going shopping, buying clothes.

◯What would you like to eat at the end of your life?
Ice, chicken breast, steamed Genghis Khan dumplings, hot and sour soup, mom's cooking

◯What foods do you dislike?
bitter melon, lettuce

◯What would you like to be if you were reborn?
I want to be a cat

◯What is your mobile phone wallpaper?
My beloved cat "Crispy"

◯What do you find yourself buying?
clothes

◯What do you always carry with you?
Amulets, AirPods, security spray, makeup, and Churu

◯ Who do you admire or who has influenced you?
My idol since I was a child has been Avril Lavigne. I love her voice, her love for music and creating. She exudes a passionate, sweet, cool, and hot vibe! That's my favorite style. She's also versatile and that's very appealing. I want to be like her.

◯What has been the most moving thing in your life?
Being my parents' daughter

◯If you weren't a Rakuten Girl, what do you think you'd be doing?
I could have been a live streamer selling products, a Chinese teacher, a self-published media outlet, or I could have studied entrepreneurship and attended graduate school as a student.

[Rakuten Girls]
Founded in 2005 as the first cheerleading squad in Taiwan's professional baseball, this year marks their 20th anniversary. Having undergone two name changes following the acquisition and renaming of their parent team, the group has been active as "Rakuten Girls" since the 2020 season. The 30 members include members from Japan and Korea. In addition to cheering performances at the stadium, they have gained popularity through a wide range of activities, including the release of CDs and photobooks, and are said to be one of the most influential girl groups in Taiwan's entertainment industry.
