◇Saitama Seibu original New Year's dishes now available for pre-order on the team's online store

Reservations for the 2026 Saitama Seibu Lions Original New Year's meal began today, Friday the 17th, at 11:00 a.m. on the official The Lions Store Online e-commerce site.

This year's New Year's set includes a total of 43 items, including classic dishes such as "Ebi Tsuya Ni" (simmered shrimp), which symbolizes a wish for longevity, and "Kuri Kinton" (chestnut kinton), which brings prosperity and good luck in games throughout the year, as well as "Hana Mochi Momo," a bite-sized dessert of peach-shaped rice cakes filled with red bean paste.

The menu is dotted with The Lions-like elements, such as "salmon roe marinated in soy sauce" and "Kyoto-style pickled vegetables" in wooden boxes bearing the Lions logo, tamagoyaki (rolled omelet) branded with the L logo, and daikon radish and carrots bearing the logo of the team's official mascot, The Lions. The New Year's feast is served in a three-tiered box, serving 3-4 people. It can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from children to adults.

As a bonus, in addition to an original bento box and cooler bag featuring Leo and Lina in gold, and a face towel that can be used to watch games next season, this year's set also includes chopsticks with an original design chopstick case.

Reservations are open until Friday, December 5th. Reservations will close once the planned number of units is reached.

Nevin, who loves Japanese food and says his favorite is "yellowtail nigiri sushi," tried tasting the osechi before it went on sale. Seeing the osechi for the first time, he seemed a little nervous at first, saying, "I don't know..." but he picked up the tamagoyaki (rolled omelet) and crab claws and enjoyed the osechi, saying, "Everything is delicious." The video is currently available on the team's official YouTube channel.

▼Nevin's comment▼
"It was my first time eating osechi, and it was delicious! The eggs were sweet and tasty, and the meat and vegetables were well-balanced, with many dishes rich in protein. I heard that chestnut kinton means 'winning over win,' so I'll have to eat a lot of it from now on. Please have a good New Year by eating The Lions' osechi."

▼Comment from Shuta Tonosaki
"I think the appeal of the menu is that it has a good balance of Japanese, Western and Chinese cuisine, and can be enjoyed by both adults and children. I tried some samples with Nevin, and I felt that it was easy to eat even for first-timers. A face towel is included as a bonus with every purchase, so I would be happy if you could hold it up at the stadium and cheer us on next season."

◇ Chiba Lotte Marines Lotte's Tsuyoshi Nishioka appointed as first-team coach

Chiba Lotte Marines announced that Tsuyoshi Nishioka will be appointed as the first-team chief batting coach and base running coach. The first-team batting department will be staffed by two coaches, along with Coach Kenta Kurihara. Coach Nishioka's number will be announced at a later date. It was also announced that Akira Otsuka, the first-team chief batting coach and base running coach, has requested to leave the team at the end of this season, and that this request has been accepted.

▼Comment from Mr. Nishioka▼
"I have been appointed as the Chief Hitting Coach and base running Coach. I am truly honored to once again be able to wear jersey and take to ground with this team that helped me develop during my playing days.

Coach Saburo is a teammate who has fought through the same era as me, and a coach I trust wholeheartedly. I would like to devote my all to helping Coach Saburo achieve his goal of "building a team where the players are the main players."

In batting instruction, we place importance on how to bring out the intuition that each player possesses. Hitting is not about form, but about "timing." Whether or not you can grasp your own timing, your own rhythm, and your own "space" determines the outcome. We want to develop players who can trust their intuition and take responsibility for their own swing.

In terms of mentality, I aim for the players to be able to "think for themselves and put their own feelings into words." Rather than the coach giving them a set format, I create an environment where the players can find the answers within themselves. I believe my role is to be someone who gives them hints to hone their sensibilities.

The same goes for base running. If you can improve baseball IQ and sharpen your senses to predict multiple scenarios on the bases, a split-second difference that doesn't show up in numbers can decide the game. baseball is all about the balance of mind, body, and heart. I believe that a truly strong team is one where players can play with confidence. Fans, we will once again create the kind of "human baseball" that is characteristic of The Marines. We appreciate your continued support.

Over the past few years, I have begun new studies in preparation for my next life goal. Even after retiring from active play, I have a desire to broaden my own horizons, and I have been learning a lot in fields slightly outside the world of baseball. Given that, I am truly grateful that the team has reached out to me in this way. In the limited time I have, I will do my best to give back to the team as much as possible of the experiences and learnings I have had up until now.

Now that I have been given the opportunity to give back to the team and fans who supported me during my playing days, I want to take full responsibility and support as many players as possible to help them grow."
