Yamakawa himself was dropped from the starting starting line-up in Game 1, but he contributed to the victory by hitting home runs in three consecutive games, tying the series record: a three-run Home Run in the second inning of Game 2 on the 26th to widen the lead, a solo home run in the fourth inning of Game 3 on the 28th to tie the game, and a solo home run in the second inning of Game 4 on the 29th to score the win run. "I think I was able to get good results because I was in good condition when I stepped up to the plate," he said, proud of his performance as the No. 4 batter.
