◇ Fukuoka Softbank trades Richard to The Giants

A one-for-two exchange trade was completed between Fukuoka Softbank 's Richard and The Giants pitcher Ryusei Oe and player Yuto Akihiro.

This season, Richard is in his eighth year and was selected as the starting starting line-up at the start of the season as the eighth batter and third baseman, but he had a poor performance in six games with only two hit in 22 At Bat-bats for a batting average of .091, and was removed from the roster on April 5th. In the farm team, he hit home runs in two consecutive games on May 6th and 7th, and played in 21 games with a batting average of .162, Home Run, and 10 RBI. Until last season, he was Western League 's Home Run leader five times and RBI leader four times.

▼Richard's comment▼
"I was surprised when I heard the news, but after calming down a bit, I started to feel more and more grateful to everyone at The Hawks who has been watching over me up until now. In particular, Chairman Oh, Manager Kokubo, and Yamakawa (Hotaka)-san had high expectations of me, and they gave me many kind words and guidance. I regret not being able to live up to their expectations, but I would like to show my growth as a member of the Giants and repay them for their kindness.

My impression of the Giants was that they had a solid, intimidating presence, or something regal, when we played against them in the farm championship. I feel a sense of urgency knowing that I will soon be a part of that team. In the eight years since I joined the team as a development player, I have experienced both good and bad things, and there were times when I felt like giving up, but the support of the fans helped me to get back up and do my best each time. Even though I'm changing teams, I will always be Sunagawa Richard, so I hope you will continue to support me."
