He is also appearing on "Monday Mo Patere Iki." Baseball world's fashionable leader GG Sato talks about today's fashion points.
◇ ◇ ◇
--GG, thank you for appearing live on "Going to Patere on Mondays Too."
(With a depressed look on his face) Oh no, I made an error.
*Editor's note: To see what the error was, check out the archives of "Monday's Patere"
--Even on the day you made an error, your fashion is still as stylish as ever. The blue shirt is refreshing.
Is that so? When I was doing the MC for "Gekpa", the staff at Patere told me not to wear a tie, so I wanted to show my individuality somehow with a shirt. If I wear a white shirt, it will look ordinary, and it's still too early in the season to wear a T-shirt. Today, I wanted to wear a colored shirt, so I was torn between stripes, blue check, brown check, and chambray, and I chose this chambray shirt.
--The length of the sleeves peeking out from under the suit is just perfect. Was it custom-made?
It's a ready-made product. It's really difficult to get the right length for a shirt, and since everyone has different arm lengths and neck lengths, most shirts are made to order, but I bought this shirt because they happened to have my size. Shirts are a chance encounter, so I thought I'd buy it if I found one in my size.
-Where do you look for shirts, GG?
I like going to second-hand clothing stores to look for one-of-a-kind shirts from brands like Ralph Lauren or Brooks Brothers.
--The combination of the jacket, pants, and shoes is also great. Were you particular about your clothes even when you were still active?
I wasn't that fashionable, but I liked clothes. Takumi Kuriyama also liked clothes, so I talked to him about clothes. I often wore brands like DIESEL, Abercrombie & Fitch, and BOSS that had larger sizes. But around the time I left The Lions, the "slightly bad boy" trend was in vogue.
- "LEON."
That's right. When I saw that, I thought, "Italy is so cool!" From that point on, I started to incorporate Italian fashion, and actually went to Italy to play baseball, learned or rather experienced it in the real place, and came back completely obsessed with it (laughs).
--I see (laughs). What do you think are the tips for wearing shirts well?
Actually, the most important thing is the size. There are things like fabric, but if the size is right, even fast fashion will look cool! So, I think I'm most particular about the size. In terms of style, I like the classic button-down the most.
--When choosing a colored shirt, do you take your personal color into consideration?
I don't know if it's a personal color, but when I went to a fortune teller the other day, I was told, "Purple and green suit you best." Purple and green are my favorite colors, and I was told that they actually suit me, so I want to incorporate them into my clothes, but I still think purple and green are a bit edgy.
I choose clothes from the perspective of what women like. I try to choose things that women like, like white shirts and slacks. So I search for women's fashion coordination on Instagram and use it as a reference! The color combinations of women's fashion are a source of inspiration and fashion sense.
--I see. For men who are unsure of what fashion is, simply adding the spice of a stylish woman's style may make a difference. Now, what should we do about the next theme?
How about some nice sneakers?
--That's great! I'm looking forward to your next fashion!
Have fun with color shirts this spring! [GG Sato's Fashion Encyclopedia #001]
