On 5 March, the opening match between Orix and Tohoku Rakuten was played in Kyocera Dome Osaka, and Tohoku Rakuten win 5-2.

Tohoku Rakuten started Takayuki Kishi pitcher. With runners on first and third with no outs in the first inning with Walk and hit, Yuma Mune hit an RBI single. In the bottom of the second and bottom of the third, the Tigers closer three outs, but with the score tied in the bottom of the fourth, Olivares allowed a sacrifice fly from third base with one out and the bases loaded to mound on 3 hit 1 Walk 2 strike out 2 runs in the fourth inning on 54 pitches.

In the top of the third inning, Daisuke Nakashima 's infield hit and Hiroto Kobukata 's sacrifice bunt put runners on second and second with one out, and with two outs, Ryosuke Tatsumi hit an RBI doble to tie the game temporarily. Trailing by one run in the top of the seventh, Franco's doble and Walk singles put runners on first and second with one out, and Yukiya Ito 's RBI single tied the game again. Then, with two outs, Itsuki Murabayashi connected on a Walk and the opposing pitcher threw a wild pitch to score the winning run. With two outs and the bases loaded, Atsuki Muto hit an RBI infield hit to make the score 4-2.

With two outs in the top of the eighth, Kohiro Komori 's Walk and Yoshiaki Watanabe 's hit put runners on first and third, and they added a run on a double steal on the fourth pitch to Ito. In the bottom of the eighth, Ren Kajiya pitcher loaded the bases with runner on a teammate's error, but was closer runs. In the bottom of the ninth inning with a three-run lead, Masaya Nishigaki pitcher struck out three batters to end the game. After the fifth inning, 5 pitcher relievers went runs without a hit. In the batting lineup, Atsuki Muto players came off the bench and showed their appeal with a 2 hit 1 RBI 1 stolen base

In the loss, Orix rookies Raiku Katayama pitcher and Reiji Higashiyama pitcher each pitched runs innings. In the batting lineup, Soh had a 2 hit 1 RBI 1 stolen base.
