On 21 March, the opening match between Orix and Hanshin Tigers in Kyocera Dome Osaka ended in a 1-1 draw.

Orix starter Hiroya Miyagi pitcher loaded the bases with two Walk doble outs in the top of the second inning with runners on first and second with two outs, but got the next two batters to struck out on three pitches. He was infield hit hit by a pitch in the top of the third, but retired the side in the top of the fourth, closer retired the side in the fourth, and gave up the mound on 66 pitches in the fourth inning hit 2 Walk 3 strike out and no runs.

In the bottom of the fourth, Kotaro Kobayashi 's hit and stolen base loaded the bases with two outs, and Olivares scored on an RBI doble to take the lead. However, in the top of the seventh, Kento Kawase pitcher, who was on third for the second inning, had runners on first and third with one out on Walk and hit and tied the game on an RBI single by Takumi Nakano. Still, with the minimum number of runs scored, Ryoga Tomiyama pitcher in the top of the eighth and Seiryu Kotajima pitcher in the top of the ninth tied the game in three.

The bats were looking to make a comeback, but after the fifth inning, the game ended in a sporadic 2-hit scoreless innings, ending the game 1-1. Olivares, a rookie, became the first multi-hit player to reach 2 hit 1 RBI in the opener.
