Hokkaido Nippon-Ham began their spring training camp on February 1st. The first team is based at Enagic Stadium Nago, and the farm team is based at Kaigin Stadium Kunigami, and they have begun preparations for the opening of the season in March.

On the first day, several pitcher took to the bullpen, including pitcher Koki Kitayama and Kota Tatsu, who have both been selected for the Japanese national team in the WBC. Also, Haruki Nishikawa, who has returned to Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters after five years, showed off his nimble base running. With the introduction of so-called "expanded bases," attention will be focused on the changes in base running and how players will adapt to them during this season's training camp.

At the farm team, rookies, including first-round draft pitcher Jiei Jay Ohkawa, have begun their full-fledged activities as members of the team. Second-round pick Kane Edokpolo has also been taking part in batting practice, hitting powerful shots to outfield.
