Nippon-Ham outfielder Franmil Reyes (30) joined the team's training camp in Nago, Okinawa on the 16th. He smiled and embraced his teammates as he reunited with them for the first time in about four months. He showed perfect condition by hitting 12 home runs over the fence, including four out of the park, in 56 swings during the batting practice. "I feel amazing, and this year I've had the clear goal of hitting 50 Home Run runs, so I've been working hard with that goal in mind, and I've been really conscious of how high I can take the team." The team's main batter, who won the double crown with 32 home runs and 90 RBI last season, has set his sights on reaching that milestone for the first time in the team's history.
During the off-season, he began training in his home country of the Dominican Republic in late November, receiving constant instruction from a personal trainer. "Rather than focusing on weights, I've been working on agility, mobility, stretching, yoga, and more," he said, focusing on building his physique with agility and flexibility. Last season, he was plagued by pain in both heels, but now he feels the effects of the training, saying, "I'm completely fine."
This is his third year in Japan. "I think it's a good team, and I think each individual player is good, so if each player does their job, I think it's a team that can win games," he said, looking ahead to his long-awaited league championship.
