On July 30th, infielder Daiju Nomura (24) underwent endoscopic lumbar transverse process reconstruction surgery at a hospital in Hyogo Prefecture. After a four-week rehabilitation period, he returned to action on the 29th in a third-division game against Meiji University (Carminique). "Everything is going well," he said, flashing a smile.
Nomura Dai was initially expected to need two to three months to return to action. He underwent bone-shaving surgery at the same hospital as Softbank outfielder Kensuke Kondo, who underwent surgery for a hernia in his lower back in early April. He showed his incredible recovery by saying, "Kondo returned in seven weeks, which was apparently the fastest time up until then, but I was able to extend my recovery by three weeks."
In his first game after returning, he played as the second batter and third baseman, walking and hitting a Walk to shortstop. After undergoing consecutive game tests, he aims to play in regular season.
