On the 10th, Rakuten announced that it had come to an agreement on a contract with infielder Luke Voit (34 years old).
Voit made his major league debut with the Cardinals in 2017 and moved to the Yankees in the middle of 2018. In 2020 (a shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic), he hit 22 Home Run and was the American League Home Run king. After that, he played for the Padres, Nationals, and other teams, and from 2024 he played in the Mexican League.
Through the team, Voight commented, "Thank you to everyone at Rakuten Eagles for believing in me and welcoming me as a part of the team. I am very grateful to everyone who has followed me to get to this point. My family and I are very excited, and I can't wait to travel to Japan and contribute to the team's win. I am eager to get started as a part of The Eagles, and I look forward to meeting all the fans in Tohoku soon. Let's go!"
