C-Osaka defender Takaya Nishio took the field for a special pre-game first pitch on August 8. He put the ball, which is smaller than the soccer ball he usually handles, catcher, in Fukunaga's mitt and said, "I had a lot of fun throwing it. Nishio, who is from Yao City, Osaka, has been selected for the Japanese national team in various age groups and contributed to Japan's appearance in the top eight at the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, as he was a member of a baseball club in elementary school, he said, "It was a place I had dreamed of, so I was very honored to be able to stand on mound despite being a soccer player."
"I decided to quit baseball because I was hit by a dead ball," said Nishio with a wry smile. Before pitching, he enjoyed interacting with Miyagi, the ace pitcher from the same year, by exchanging uniforms. "We have to work hard as a soccer team representing Osaka, and we want to work with Orix to liven up Osaka," he said, reaffirming his determination.
