Tatsuya Imai pitcher 26), who has been selected as the opening pitcher for Seibu, made his start in the exhibition game against Hanshin Tigers. He showed that he is doing well, pitching well with only one hit no runs in the fourth inning.
In the first inning, he struck out No. 1 Shimada and No. 2 Takadera on flyouts, and retired three batters on 10 pitches at a good tempo. In the second inning, he struck out No. 4 Morishita with a 155 kph fastball, the fastest of the day, to struck out and lined up zeroes until the fourth inning.
He toyed with the Hanshin Tigers batting line while varying the strength of his form. He left the team temporarily to play in a national team match, and returned to the mound six days after starting in the first game of the "LUXAS Samurai Japan Series 2025 vs. the Netherlands." He said, "My condition has been good so far and I've been doing well. There's still some time until the opening game, so I'd like to keep practicing until the end and improve my level even more," as he looks ahead to the opening game against Nippon-Ham on the 28th (Belluna Dome).
Seibu Imai pitched well and scored two runs in the bottom of the 4th inning on timely doble hits by Sotosaki in the 5th and Koga in the 7th, but Kaino lost three runs in a row in the top of the 5th inning and the game was reversed. The winning streak in open games stopped at "3".
