On the 31st, Rakuten announced that catcher Yuto Egawa (24) will retire at the end of this season. He will become bullpen catcher from the 2026 season.
Egawa commented through the team, "The past six years since I joined The Eagles have been extremely fulfilling, as I have been blessed with wonderful seniors, juniors, and classmates. I have received support from many people, and even though I am a development player, many people have cheered me on, which has been a great help to me. From now on, I would like to work behind the scenes and give back to everyone who has supported me so far."
