Still with two outs bases loaded, Yanagimachi hit a ball that was catch hit by Gunji at third baseman. It touched Shuto at second base runner. The decision was ruled safe and replay verification was again requested and the decision was overturned.
Kawase commented, "I wasn't able to capitalize on the opportunity in my previous at-bat, so I was determined to make the most of this one. I think the fact that I was able to go all out led to a timely hit. We will all come together and definitely win."
