On the 2nd, Seibu announced that they had notified left-handed pitcher Ken Takeru Sasaki (29) that they would not be signing a contract for next season. Since returning to the team on June 3rd this season, he has pitched in 15 games for the first team, with a record of 0 wins, 3 losses, 1 hold, and an ERA of 5.02. His future plans are yet to be decided.
Sasaki joined the team as the second pick in the 2020 draft from NTT East Japan. In September 2011, he underwent surgery to reconstruct the medial collateral ligament in his left elbow and arthroscopic cleaning. In 2012, he re-signed as a development player and returned to action in March of this year. He had just returned to the regular roster on June 3rd.
pitcher Sasaki's comments are as follows.
"I started the year with great motivation, having come through rehabilitation to the point where I was able to play baseball again. I had very strong feelings about this season because I had not been able to contribute to the team up until that point, but when the year came to an end, I felt like I hadn't done enough. I feel regretful and frustrated that I was unable to repay the support of so many people who supported me during my development period, and I am sorry that I was unable to contribute to the team."
