On 22 March, the opening match between The Giants and Chiba Lotte in Tokyo Dome ended in a 4-4 draw.

In the Chiba Lotte, No. 1 draft rookie Nishikawa had a 2 hit 2 RBI, Sho Nakamura had a 2 hit 1 RBI, including a No. 1 solo, and Fujiwara had a inside-the-park home run.
