On October 8th, the "23rd Miyazaki Phoenix League" match between The Giants and Saitama Seibu Lions was held at Nango Stadium, and the Seibu Lions lost 1 to 3.

Starting pitcher Haruki Sugiyama started well with three-up, three-down innings in the 1st and 2nd, but in the bottom of the 3rd, he gave up two RBI hits and allowed 2 runs to be taken first. The batting lineup responded immediately in the top of the 4th; after lead-off hitter Sowa Yokota hit a triple, Daiju Nomura 's RBI doble pulled back 1 run.

From the 4th inning, the relay began, with Shota Hamaya, Wataru Matsumoto, and Hakua Iwaki each pitching 1 scoreless inning. Although 1 run was lost due to a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the 8th, the 5th pitcher Towa Uema also covered 2 innings. The lineup wanted to score somehow, but they were held to only 1 hit from the 5th inning onwards. In the top of the 9th, they gained a chance with runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs thanks to a hit by Yokota and other factors, but the following batters were retired, and the game ended 1 to 3.
