Nippon-Ham 's Nao Miyanishi pitcher came on in relief in the sixth inning of an 8-7 win as the fourth hitter, tying Chunichi Iwase for a professional baseball record of 879 consecutive relief appearances.

He has been a relief pitcher since his professional debut in 2008. Last season, the 39-year-old iron-armed left-hander set a new professional baseball record with 400 hold, and has now set another new record.
