◆Preseason game: The Giants 6-2 Lotte (21st, Tokyo Dome)
Lotte's Tyron Guerrero pitcher entered the game on the 21st in the seventh inning of the The Giants game and hit 162 kilograms on the seventh pitch to Maru. He was fouled, but he struck out the crowd with a 1-hit 2-struck out no-runs in the first inning, including a 151-kilogram splitter on struck out the eighth pitch of the inning.
"Coach Yoshii gave me some advice saying, 'You're leaning forward quite a bit, so why not keep it on your pivot foot a little more,' and it produced good results. I was able to throw without worrying about the speed of the ball, and it was great that I was able to gain some speed. Once it gets warmer, I think I'll be able to throw a little faster," he said, showing confidence in breaking his personal best of 167 km/h.
Manager Yoshii narrowed his eyes and said, "Guerrero did well. He hasn't seemed satisfied with his shadow pitching lately, but I think he'll probably say 'bueno' today."
