Softbank starting pitcher Ryosuke Otsu making his first start in the Japan Series, got off to a good start in the first inning, striking out all three batters.
Chikamoto, the first batter, struck out out looking on an inside cutter, then No. 2 Nakano grounded out to second base with an outside curve ball, and No. 3 Morishita hit an outside cutter to outfield, but it was caught by left fielder Yanagida for a fly ball to left field.
In his third year as a professional this season, Otsu pitched in 12 games, finishing with a record of 6 wins and 2 losses and an ERA of 1.92.
