◆SMBC Japan Series 2025 Game 2 Softbank vs. Hanshin Tigers (26th, Mizuho PayPay)
Softbank Hawks infielder Ukyo Shuto broke the Japan Series record with five hit in a single game. In his fifth at-bat with two outs and no runner on base in the seventh inning, he hit doble the left field line off Hanshin Tigers 's Yuasa, setting a new record.
With the score at 0-1 in the first inning, he created a chance with a single to right field with no outs and a runner on first base. He then scored on an RBI single by Kurihara to tie the game. With the score at 3-1 in the second inning, with two outs and a runner on second base, triple. In the third inning, with two outs and a runner on first base, he hit a single to center field off the second pitcher, Iwazaki. This was also his first Japan Series multi-hit game. In the fifth inning, with two outs and a runner on first base, he hit his fourth hit off Ihara to center field.
He is the third player in the team to get four hits in a single game since Hanshin's Hanshin Tigers in Game 7 of 1941, and the third hit to do so since Okamoto Isami in Game 1 of 1959 and Ryoya Kurihara in Game 2 of 1940. A total of 29 players had previously recorded four hit (including one in an extra inning game), but this has broken history.
