The Yomiuri Sawayaka baseball School (sponsored by the Sapporo Sorachi Yomiuri Association) was held on the 25th at the Sapporo Stadium indoor practice field in Kiyota Ward, Sapporo. 42 elementary school students participated, and former Nippon-Ham players Naoto Inada and Shinya Tsuruoka served as instructors. Inada provided enthusiastic instruction base running, catching ground catch, and hitting, while Tsuruoka provided enthusiastic instruction on pitch, catch, and hitting. The final mini-game allowed the players to fully demonstrate the results of their training.
Inada encouraged the players, saying, "It's difficult, but persistence is important. Don't run away from the difficulties, but set goals and you'll see results." Tsuruoka also encouraged them, saying, "What I taught you today won't be immediately applicable from tomorrow, but persistence is important. I hope you'll do your best so you can repay the kindness of your manager and coaches." On behalf of the players, Fujishima Kamamori (6th grade) gave a powerful thank you speech, saying, "I learned a lot. I will use today's experience to do my best in junior high school."
