Pacific League: Orix vs Seibu (2nd, Kyocera Dome)
Seibu Lions infielder Keisuke Nakata recorded his first professional RBI on the 2nd. It was a memorable hit in his 82nd game as a first-division player.
He started as the seventh batter and right fielder. With neither team scoring in the second inning and runners on first and second with one out, Nakata hit a fastball from Soya, sending it careening down the right field line for a timely RBI doble to take the lead. "It was a chance, so I swung aggressively. I'm glad we were able to score the first run," Nakata said, smiling shyly from second base after receiving congratulations from the bench.
Nakata joined Softbank as the 14th pick in the 2021 development draft from Fukuoka University. He was registered as a regular player before the start of last season, but was notified during the offseason that he was no longer needed, and joined Seibu as a development player this season. He was promoted to a regular player on March 25th before the start of the season, and recorded his first hit since joining Seibu in a game against Chunichi Dragons on June 13th (Belluna D).
