Tohoku Rakuten Eagles 's Rui Muneyama hit a sweep doble in his first game back with the first team.
In the bottom of the 8th inning, with a 3-run lead, Ryosuke Tatsumi and McCusker hit consecutive RBI singles to score 2 runs. With two outs and bases loaded, Muneyama stepped up to the plate. He connected with breaking ball from pitcher Kyosuke Kuroyanagi, sending the ball to left-center field. It was a sweep doble, extending the lead to 8 runs.
Muneyama injured his left hand in an exhibition game against The Giants on March 20th. He was diagnosed with a left wrist cartilage joint cartilage (TFCC) injury and had been undergoing rehabilitation and adjustment in the minor leagues since then. He made his return to active play on June 24th and played in five minor league games. He recorded 5 hits At Bat 16 hit for a batting average of .312 and was promoted to the first team today, the 3rd.
