On February 14th, Chiba Lotte Marines held a Valentine's Day event at Miyakonojo Koala's March Stadium in Miyakonojo, Miyazaki Prefecture, where their farm team is currently holding its second training camp. The first 200 visitors received a free gift of Lotte Co., Ltd.'s popular product, "Koala's March."
This event was jointly planned by Chiba Lotte Marines, Miyakonojo City, and the Miyakonojo City Sports Commission as a fan service to express gratitude to the fans who came to the spring training camp. On the day, five players participated, including pitcher Norihito Okumura, pitcher was drafted third, as well as local Miyakonojo pitcher Ryotaro Mori, pitcher Oto Hayasaka, Ryo Sakai, and pitcher Seiun Akiyama, who interacted with each visitor and handed out Koala March copies.
pitcher Okumura reflected on his Valentine's Day memories, saying, "The most chocolates I received on Valentine's Day was when I was in junior high school; I received 12. In high school, I was so absorbed in baseball that I almost forgot about Valentine's Day. I've always loved Lotte's product, Koala's March, so I was happy to be able to take part in this event today, and I think it was a good opportunity to express my gratitude to all the fans who support me every day. I want to continue to improve my skills and work hard to become a popular player on the team. If I do that, maybe I can break my Valentine's Day record (laughs)."
pitcher Mori, who is currently taking part in spring training in his hometown, said, "I am very happy to have been able to take part in this event in my hometown of Miyakonojo City. I personally handed out copies of Koala's March to the local people who always support me as a token of my gratitude. We have received a lot of cheers during the training camp, so I would like to turn that support into strength and do my best to produce good results."
