◇Saitama Seibu Lions vs. Chiba Lotte Marines, Game 6 (December 12, Belluna Dome)
Sosuke Genda of the Saitama Seibu Lions hit a game-tying RBI single in the bottom of the inning.
In the top of the 9th inning, with the score tied 0-0, rookie pitcher Hayato Hakua Iwaki gave up the first run, but in the bottom of the 9th, the offense got on base with one out when Yuta Nakasawa drew a walk, putting a runner Walk with two outs. At this point, Genda stepped up to the plate and, on the fifth pitcher from opposing Rikuto Yokoyama, he connected with a low fastball, breaking his bat in the process, but sending the ball over second baseman 's head for a timely hit. The team tied the game in the bottom of the 9th inning with two outs.
On the 10th, the first day of the series, Genda's own error led to a come-from-behind loss, but in the game the day before, he played a key role with a hit in the first inning that led to the go-ahead run and some good fielding. He was the hero of this game as well, and stood on the podium, saying, "I can't erase the mistake, but I'm glad that my efforts to make up for it led to a win."
