As we eagerly await the start of the 2026 professional baseball season, the "The Fighters Girls" who adorn Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters are also moving forward with a new system.
This season, the team is led by captain Mako Komano and sub-captain Nanako Ueno, who are breathing new life into the team. We spoke to these two about their thoughts on taking on the role and their outlook for the team.

The ideal team is "warm, powerful, and fun"
-First of all, please tell us how you felt when you were appointed.
Kiko Komano (hereafter, Komano): When I heard about the offer, I felt a sense of responsibility and determination. I have a lot of experience in team sports, but this is the first time in my life that I have been given the role of captain. I see this as an opportunity to demonstrate what I have learned from my previous activities, and I would like to create a "one-of-a-kind team" together with my sub-captain Nanako!
Ueno Nanako (hereinafter referred to as Ueno): I was a new member last season, and every day was fresh and exciting. When I heard I would be appointed sub-captain, I was a little worried about whether I could do it, but at the same time, I was very happy. With 13 continuing members and 14 new members, there has been a big change, and I want to be someone who can bring out the charm of the new The Fighters Girls.
-What kind of team do you want The Fighters Girl to be in 2026?
Komano: To me, a captain is "a support and a source of strength for the team." I want to respect each individual and raise the morale of the entire team with awareness and responsibility. The ideal team is one that is warm and powerful, like The Fighters, where everyone takes pride in themselves and supports each other.
Ueno: I want to create a team where members respect each other and never forget their original intentions or gratitude. Of course, we will improve ourselves as a team by helping each other improve, but more than anything, I want us to work together with the mindset that "first and foremost, we have to have fun!"

14 new members join, bringing the total to 27
-What are your impressions of the new members?
Komano: My first impression was that she was "refreshing"! I was impressed by how diligently she took notes and how sincerely she addressed each and every question. When I spoke to her, she was gentle and had a warm aura that put those around her at ease, so I'm really looking forward to getting to know her better.
Ueno: There are a lot of members, and they come from a wide variety of ages and backgrounds. We've just started our activities, so I'm sure there are some nervousness, but I can't wait to see each of them bring out their "natural charm" in the future.

A message to fans about the 2026 season
--Finally, please share your thoughts with the fans who will be coming to the stadium.
Ueno: As The Fighters Girl for the second year, I will use my past experiences to enjoy my activities in my own way. I will do my best to liven up ES CON FIELD and all of Hokkaido so that we can support The Fighters in becoming the best in Japan!
Komano: We value sharing inspiring experiences with everyone not only through our performances, but also through tour guiding and community interaction. While inheriting the traditions that have been cultivated, all 27 of us will create a new wave. I want to support the members so that they can work positively, and I myself want to grow as well.
Both: This year too, we will deliver dreams and inspiration through entertainment! Please look forward to the new The Fighters Girls, full of charm and individuality. We'll be waiting for you at ES CON FIELD Hokkaido!
◇◇◇
Komano's "determination" as she takes on the role of captain for the first time, and Ueno's "passion" to wholeheartedly enjoy the activities—these two, though contrasting, deeply trust each other, and I am confident that they will make even greater strides in the 2026 season. We look forward to seeing what kind of brilliance the new The Fighters Girls will bring to the northern land.
