In the bottom of the fourth, with two outs and runners on first and second, Taiyo Sato hit a timely single and Yuta Nakazo's 16th three-run homer to pull away. In the bottom of the 5th, Kuwahara hit a two-run doble, making the score 8-1.

Saitama Seibu Lions 's starter, Taiga Ueda pitcher, got off to a strong start, retiring all three batters in the top of closer first and second innings. In the top of the third, with runners on second and third and one out, hit, and Walk, he was in trouble with runners on second and third, and Cabbage gave up a run on his sacrifice fly. From the top of the fourth inning, three inning were retired in order.
