Orix Buffaloes suffered their ninth shutout game loss of the season, managing only three hit. They handed shutout game win to Seibu Lions 's Sumida. Manager Kishida said, "We couldn't create any chances, and he pitched very well. It was typical of Sumida's pitching, with good location and good changes of pace," acknowledging the opposing left-hander's skill.

Starting pitcher Perdomo gave up 7 hit and 4 runs in 4 2/3 innings, suffering his third loss of the season. He struggled with control, issuing 4 Walk, and in his second start since being moved from relief to the starting rotation, he was unable to secure his first win as a starter in NPB. The manager commented, "I was hoping he could extend inning a bit. I think he has the potential to do well in the future, depending on how he's handled."

The gap between them and league Seibu Lions has widened again to 5.5 games. Manager Kishida emphasized, "We just have to switch gears and do our best again tomorrow."
