◆ Pacific League Softbank Hawks 6-8 Seibu Lions (July 7th, Mizuho PayPay Dome)
Seibu Lions 's second-round draft pick, pitcher Hakua Iwaki (Chuo University), made his third appearance of the season and allowed his first runs, but managed to shut down the subsequent batters, earning his second save of the season with 1 inning pitched, 2 hit and 1 run runs.
He came in as the fourth pitcher in the ninth inning with a three-run lead. After allowing an infield hit to put a runner on second with one out, he gave up his first professional runs when pinch hitter Yanagimachi hit a timely doble to right-center field. Nevertheless, he managed to get Kondo and Kurihara out, and breathed a sigh of relief, saying, "All that matters is that the team wins. I'm glad I was able to closer it to one run and not let runs increase any further."
He joined Seibu Lions in 2013 as the second overall pick in the draft from Chuo University, and this season, despite being a rookie, he is serving as the team's closer. So far, he has appeared in six exhibition games and two regular season games, and in both, he has allowed zero runs and has an ERA of 0.00, showing excellent ERA.
