This project looks back on the 2026 season of the Pacific League warriors. This season, we review the performance of Reyes, who won his first leading hitter title for Hokkaido Nippon-Ham, a team that finished in third place with 78 wins, 62 losses, and 3 draws, for a winning percentage of .557.
Marking a first-ever NPB record, followed by a hero interview that touched the hearts of the fans.
In 2025, he won the double crown for Home Run and RBI, and in this season, his third year in Japan, he fully demonstrated his power as a main hitter. In the March 31st game against the Chiba Lotte Marines, he hit back-to-back Home Run with Kotaro Kiyomiya twice in a single game, supporting Haruki Hosono pitcher's no hitter. He led the team to their first win of the season after an opening three-game losing streak.
Showing his presence with his batting from the opening, in June he won his third 'Taiju Life Monthly MVP Award' with a .400 batting average, 28 hit 10 Home Run 18 RBI in 20 games. In the July 2nd game against the Orix Buffaloes, Shun Mizutani, Tatsuki Mizuno, Reyes, and Chusei Mannami recorded four consecutive Home Run starting from the first hitter of the first inning, a first in professional baseball history.
And a famous scene that remains in the fans' memories was born on August 28th in the game against the Chiba Lotte Marines. Reyes hit two consecutive Home Run for 5 RBI, and when he appeared for the hero interview, he sat on the podium and spoke of his passionate love for The Fighters while mixing in Japanese.
In August, his numbers dropped slightly with a .256 batting average (22 hit in 86 At Bat), but he recorded 7 Home Run. In September, he had a good performance with a .293 batting average and 3 Home Run in 11 games, but he was removed from the active roster on the 17th due to a muscle strain, and the regular season ended there.
Ultimately, Reyes performed as expected, becoming the leading hitter for the first time with a .313 batting average and reaching 30 Home Run for the second consecutive year. In his three years in Japan, he has won the major titles of leading hitter, Home Run king, and RBI king. Let's look forward to the main hitter's performance toward the long-awaited championship next season.
