Today, January 7 (Wed.), we will play back Fukuoka Softbank Kenta Imamiya Playback of the 100th arch by a player.

16th year as a professional, a milestone "100"

In his 16th year as a professional, Imamiya was in starting line-up from the opening game of the 2025 season. The team had a tough start with three straight losses, but in the game on April 1st, Imamiya hit Home Run and scored five runs to earn their first win of the season. His 99th career home Home Run put him just one away from reaching the milestone, but he was sidelined by an injury in May. He was unable to make it to the finals.

He returned to the first team in June, but was sidelined again due to injury. His second return came in August. His moment came on August 22nd, in his third game since returning, against Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters at ES CON FIELD.

He started as the seventh short stop and starting line-up in the top of the second inning. With a solo home run by No. 5 Akira Nakamura, the team took a one-run lead. With two outs and no runner on base, Imamiya was up to bat. He deflected the first pitch from starting pitcher Koki Kitayama, a 152 km/h fastball that was a little too soft, and the ball flew into the stands.

Imamiya has been active for many years as a connecting player in the batting lineup, becoming the fourth player in NPB history to achieve 400 sacrifice bunt. As he commented, "I'm happy that this is my 100th home run, a milestone, but I still want to aim for greater heights as a stepping stone," will he be able to lead the team as a veteran even after 2026?
