pitcher Toshiya Nakamura, who was drafted by the Lotte Marines to Softbank Hawks, held a press conference at Mizuho PayPay on the 15th. The 29-year-old left-hander joined Lotte as the fifth pick in the 2018 draft from Asia University. This season, he pitched in 15 games, all as a ERA. His professional career record is 7 wins, 9 losses, and a 4.03 ERA in 99 games. "I've loved Daiei and Softbank Hawks since I was a kid in my hometown of Kyushu, so I'm happy to be able to wear their uniform and play," he said, expressing deep emotion as he put on number 30 jersey. Nakamura hails from Sasebo, Nagasaki, the same hometown as CBO Kenji Jojima, and as a boy, he would visit his family's Jojima Memorial Hall and get excited. Even after turning pro, he never failed to greet his fellow hometown alumni whenever he saw them at the stadium.
Next year will be his turning 30. "I think I can pitch in about 40 games if I stay in the first team for a year, so I'd like to pitch 40 to 50 inning or more," he said, setting a goal of working at full capacity as a relief pitcher.
