Today, November 17 (Monday), we look back at the "two professional firsts Home Run" of Kyuto Ueda, a player in the second year of Chiba Lotte Marines. Please enjoy both the "phantom" first and the "genuine" first!
Pro No. 1 disappeared in the rain
On July 17th, the 14th game against Fukuoka Softbank was held at Kitakyushu Municipal Baseball Stadium. Although it wasn't raining at the start of the game, a severe thunderstorm forced the game to be suspended after the bottom of the third inning. The rain subsided and the game resumed. The score was tied in the bottom of the fifth inning, and the score was tied 2-2 going into the top of the sixth inning.
Aito, the first batter, reached base with no outs and a runner on first base. Next up to bat was Ueda, who hit the second breaking ball thrown by pitcher Toya Kawaguchi and drove it to the right field pole. His first professional Home Run was a two-run home run to give the team the lead, but the rain intensified midway through the game, resulting in a cold game. Since the bottom of the sixth inning wasn't completed, the top of the sixth inning wasn't recorded, and so the first professional Home Run run was lost.
Less than a month later, on August 2nd, he hit a long-awaited home run in a game at Belluna Dome. With the score at 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning, with one out and a runner on first base, he scooped up a low, outside fastball from pitcher Kaito Yoza, sending the ball flying into the right-center field stands. His first genuine professional Home Run was a two-run home run that turned the game around.
This season, Ueda played in 66 games, batting .211 with 3 Home Run 20 RBI. Expectations are high for him to further hone his batting skills and become a key player for the team next season.
Tomorrow, November 18th (Tuesday), we will feature the tense "shutout game and Firefighting." We will look back at Tohoku Rakuten 's Tatsuki Koja Kosha's first professional shutout game!
