Former Rakuten director Yosuke Hiraishi held a special talk show in commemoration of the publication of his book "Learn from People, Live by People (Wani Books)" with Rakuten and Hideto Asamura infielder in Tokyo on March 17.

At the event, the topic of Asamura's 2,000th hit this season also came up. Hiraishi said that just before Asamura's record was reached, he was in charge of broadcasting and commentating for about five Rakuten games, but "he didn't achieve it in those five games," revealing his lack of experience. Regarding the situation of being on the brink of breaking the record, Hiraishi asked Asamura, "People around you are being careful (to achieve the record). Don't you feel anxious about that?" To which Asamura replied with a laugh, "That's part of it. When we go on away trips, there's a big (record achievement) board behind the bench. There's a bit of a (bouquet of) flowers smelling a bit behind the bench... I felt bad, so I wanted to decide quickly."
