"P's UPDATE," the official Pacific League TV program, updates the common sense of baseball world and updates itself. This time, as a "Konoike Theory Special Edition," the theme is "Your body has a type."

The guests included Norihiro Nakamura, who currently serves as a high school baseball coach; Toshiaki Imae, former manager of Tohoku Rakuten Eagles; Yuji Kaneko, who has won stolen base base title twice; and Toshiharu Kono, the proponent of the Kono theory and representative of the Kono Sports Academy.

The article explains body types based on the form of active athletes and introduces methods for self-checking.

Differences in body types between Saitama Seibu Lions Takeya Nakamura and Tohoku Rakuten Eagles 's Hideto Hideto Asamura

The video compares the batting forms of Takeya Nakamura, who is arm-dominant, and Hideto Asamura, who is leg-dominant, and explains the characteristics of each.

Regarding Nakamura, the analysis stated, "His body starts moving because his hands move." It was explained that "he uses weight transfer from side to side, and uses his body's axis on the left side." On the other hand, regarding Asamura, it was explained that "he rotates his left hip with all his might in order to use his back muscles." The studio audience seemed convinced that even though they are both sluggers, their forms differ depending on their body type.

Furthermore, when asked about his own style, Norihiro Nakamura replied, "I used both." Kono-san also said, "Nakamura was hard to understand," revealing that he was a player who was difficult to categorize.

Toshiaki Imaie and Yuji Kaneko practice self-checking!

Next, Imaie and Kaneko tried a self-check to find out their own body types.

The difference was particularly evident in a test where participants stood on their tiptoes and moved their gaze (head direction) up and down to check their body's stability.

When they looked downwards, Kaneko, who is arm-dominant, remained stable, while Imaie, who is leg-dominant, became unsteady. Conversely, when they looked upwards, Kaneko began to wobble, while Imaie maintained a stable posture.

Introducing gear born from the Konoike theory!

In addition, gear developed based on Konoike's theory was introduced. First, the pelvic belt is gear designed to improve body balance simply by wearing it. Konoike said that they incorporated feedback from athletes and narrowed the width to just 2.5 centimeters in order to target only the bones.

Next, the caps come in different shapes depending on body type. The leg-type cap has a deeper brim to shift the center of gravity towards the heels, while the arm-type cap has a shallower brim to naturally draw the eye further back.

Furthermore, the shirts feature a design that allows for easy movement around the shoulders. The shoulders are wider and the length is shorter to allow for free movement of the shoulders. In response, Kaneko recalled with surprise, "That's how jersey were made (when I was playing)," and Konoike nodded in agreement, saying, "You can't show your true potential unless you do that."

Finally, Nakamura, who currently coaches high school baseball, concluded the program by saying, "I would like to be able to give advice to high school students, starting with an examination."
