Chiba Lotte Marines announced that pitcher Atsuki Taneichi underwent an examination at a hospital in Kumamoto City on the 25th and was diagnosed with a ruptured left Achilles tendon.

pitcher Taneichi was delayed in getting off to a good start due to his participation in the "2026 WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC™" held in March, and made his first appearance in a real game this season on April 3 against the farm team Oisix Niigata. He was promoted to the first team on the 17th, and on the same day against Tohoku Rakuten Eagles, he pitched well, allowing only 5 hit no Hit by Pitch strike out 6, and giving up no runs over 7 innings.

In his second appearance on the mound, against Fukuoka Softbank on the 25th, he injured his left leg while chasing a batted ball after throwing the fifth pitch to cleanup hitter Yuki Yanagita in the first inning, and had to leave the game.
