The Saitama Seibu Lions' spring training camp entered its second day of the fourth phase.
In the live BP session, second-round draft pick rookie pitcher Hakua Iwaki took the mound. He threw 26 pitches, mixing in breaking ball, to Shinya Hasegawa and first-round draft pick rookie Taiga Kojima. Both rookies, who are expected to be immediate contributors, are progressing smoothly with their adjustments.
New player Canario was also hitting well during batting practice today. He hit the ball over the fence to left field on the first pitch and even hit a home run that hit the back screen, showing he is in good condition.
Reon Reon Murata and Seiya Watanabe worked up a sweat during special fielding practice at third base. Coach Tetsushi Kuroda even commented to Watanabe, who was converted to third base this season, "You're starting to get it." The video also reveals the secret behind Murata's nickname.
