The Lions' young leader shines with his power hitting, and a rookie achieves double-digit Home Run for the first time in 22 years...

His first professional Home Run came on May 14th against Fukuoka Softbank. In the top of the first inning, he caught the first pitch thrown by the opposing starting pitcher, Ryosuke Otsu, a low fastball, and sent the ball flying into the left-field stands. This was a long-awaited home run for the rookie, who had been performing well since the start of the season.

In the game against Tohoku Rakuten Eagles on July 10th, he came to bat in the bottom of the sixth inning with two outs and a runner on first base, right after the team had scored the first run. He swung at the first pitch, a fastball that was a little too soft, and the ball soared into left field for his sixth home run, a two-run home run that turned the game around. This hit helped pitcher Mitsunari Takahashi, who had been pitching well, to his rescue.

He continued to perform well after that, and on September 17th, in his first at Fukuoka Softbank bat in the top of the second inning, he hit a high fastball from starting pitcher Moinelo in the opposite direction, but the ball unexpectedly flew in and landed near the right field pole. It went straight into the stands, becoming the first double-digit Home Run by a rookie in 22 years for the team.
