On 22 March, the opening match between Chunichi and Tohoku Rakuten in Vantelin Dome ended in a 1-1 draw.

Tohoku Rakuten took the lead in the first inning when Yukiya Ito loaded the bases with two outs and doble Toshiki Abe singled to load the bases with Walk in the fourth. In the bottom of the first inning, starter Tomotaka Matsui pitcher hit an RBI single to Seitomo Uebayashi to tie the game, but he did not allow a run after that. After getting out of the mound at 1 runs in the third inning, Masaya Nishigaki pitcher closer the second consecutive inning to retire three batters.

From the 6th inning, Shota Watanabe pitcher, Turley pitcher, Ryuta Konno pitcher, Sora Suzuki pitcher tied the game with no runs and the game was tied heading into the final inning. In the top of the ninth, they had a chance to put runners on first and third with two outs on two Walk, but they couldn't score as the runner was thrown out. Still, Satoshi Miyamori pitcher closed out the bottom of the ninth inning with a three-way tie to end the game at 1-1.

Matsui threw 57 pitches in three innings hit 2 Walk 3 strike out 1 runs. After that, 6 pitcher performed a no-runs relay. In fielder, Ito and Abe each scored 2 hit.
