On August 17, Motonobu Tanishige and Ginji appeared on the “Going to Patere Even on Mondays” segment of Persol’s Pacific League TV official YouTube channel and sent words of encouragement to Tohoku Rakuten Eagles.

The Tohoku Rakuten Eagles team went 2-1 in their three-game series against the first-place Fukuoka Softbank team, which began on the 14th, handing the Fukuoka Softbank their first series loss in two months. Mr. Tanishige praised their performance, saying, “I think that’s quite impressive. They’ve got what it takes to win.”

Today’s broadcast was a live stream from Rakuten Eagles Mobile’s “Strongest Park Miyagi,” and the Tohoku Golden Angels also made an appearance. Team member MEI asked the two, “What, in your opinion, is the single most important thing the The Eagles need right now to start racking up wins from here on out?”

In response, Mr. Tanishige smiled and said, “That’s a tough one,” adding, “It would be best if I could answer with just one thing… but anyway, I think it will pay off in the long run if the players approach each game with high goals in mind. I think that’s what we should aim for.”Ginji also cheered on the team, saying, “I think they should play with a more competitive edge, and I want them to keep fighting until it gets really messy—right up until the very end.”

In the latter half of the program, during the segment “hitter,” where Tanishige selects the strongest active players, the names of McCusker and Itsuki Murabayashi. Regarding McCusker,he praised, “He’s probably reading the pitch selection. He has a long reach that covers the outside, and he has the technique to handle the inside as well.” Regarding Murabayashi, he described him as a “batter who, even when struck out, sends the ball into the hit zone,” noting that he is a hitter that’s a pain to face as a catcher. All eyes are on the final stretch of the season to see if the team can turn things around alongside these two standout hitter.
