In the third inning, trailing by five runs, Kita hit a two-run triple to center field with two outs and runners on first and second. The next batter, Ota, followed with an RBI single to left, narrowing the deficit to two runs. In the fifth inning, Kurebayashi hit an RBI single to left with one out and runners on first and second.
In the eighth inning, trailing by one run, Noguchi successfully executed a sacrifice bunt in front of the pitcher with no outs and a runner on second, but Rakuten Eagles' Tai made a bad throw to first. In the meantime, the runner on second, Watanabe, scored to tie the game. After that, with one out and a runner on second, Wakatsuki hit a go-ahead RBI triple over right field.
