Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Kohei Arihara pitcher achieved his 100th career win in NPB, becoming the 144th player in history to do so.
pitcher Arihara, who joined Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters as their first overall pick in the 2014 draft, achieved double-digit win three times in the six years leading up to 2020, including winning his first career most wins title (15 wins) in 2019. After returning to NPB in 2023, he recorded a total of 38 wins in three years with Fukuoka Softbank. In 2024 and 2025, he shared the most wins title with pitcher Hiromi Ito for two consecutive years.
In his 10th NPB season in 2026, he joined his former team, the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham, and earned his first win of the season in his second start on April 5 against Orix Buffaloes. After that, he suffered four consecutive losses and was far from a win, but after adjusting in the minor leagues, he finally achieved his 100th win on July 2 with a tenacious performance of 6 innings, 101 pitches, 6 hit, no Hit by Pitch and 1 runs run. The offense also added to the celebration with a new NPB record of four consecutive Home Run from the first batter to the start of the first inning.
