Manager Shinjo also ran towards home plate from his position as first base coach, in sync with Wakatsuki, and then stumbled and fell while sliding headfirst, exciting the crowd.

Commentator Atsuya Furuta noticed that Manager Shinjo was using the red wristbands on both hands as a sign for the steel, but he was puzzled, saying, "What I didn't understand was Coach Shinjo's headfirst slide."

Regarding the headfirst slide near home plate, which appeared to involve the player tripping, commentator Daisuke Matsuzaka said, "It looked like he stumbled."

When the commentator praised the idea, saying, "Using a wristband to give signals is a clever idea," Furuta replied, "He seems to be enjoying this All-Star game himself."
