Nishikawa, playing right field and batting second, crashed into wall while chasing a fly ball hit by Softbank Hawks 's Umino in the fourth inning with two outs and runners on second and third base, with his team leading 3-1. The ball resulted in a game-tying doble. Nishikawa remained motionless on the ground and was carried off on a stretcher before being replaced.
